EXPLORE THE PENINSULA
Turn a drive around Kintyre into a holiday. Discover coastal stops, village cafés and places to stay, with time for walking, whisky and an island detour.

This is The Kintyre Guide’s independent trip-planning guide, not the official Kintyre 66 website. Use the official route map alongside current road information and choose stops to suit your time.
The Kintyre 66 is a 66-mile road loop on the A83 and B842, with six spurs for exploring further. The official route and The Kintyre Way walking trail are different journeys: choose the road trip for exploring by vehicle, or the walking stages for a holiday on foot.
See the official Kintyre 66 website and route map. The Kintyre Guide is independently operated and is not affiliated with Kintyre 66.
For a relaxed holiday, split your choices across several days. Spend one exploring the west coast around Glenbarr and Westport, another around Carradale and Saddell on the east coast, and another in Campbeltown. These are flexible sightseeing ideas, not a timed driving itinerary.
Leave space for narrow roads, stops and changing conditions. Gigha needs a separate ferry plan; check the current sailing information before adding it. A distillery tasting needs a designated driver or arranged transport.
Compare accommodation across Kintyre or caravan parks and campsites. Check each property’s booking link, dog policy and practical information directly. A saved itinerary does not reserve a room.
