A CLOSER LOOK

Discover Westport Beach

A dog-friendly stretch of Atlantic sand at the northern end of Machrihanish Bay, made for long beach walks and wide sea views.

What to expect

The approach crosses dunes before opening onto a long Atlantic beach. Walkhighlands describes a flexible out-and-back walk, so you can turn around according to the weather and your energy rather than committing to a fixed circuit. The dune habitat is protected and deserves as much care as the shoreline.

Planning your visit

Use the established path from the A83 parking area and keep off fragile dune vegetation. Wind, surf and tides change the space available on the beach; this listing is not a swimming-safety assessment. Bring suitable layers and choose a return point early enough for everyone in your group.
