A CLOSER LOOK
Discover Carradale Bay
A south-facing sandy bay sheltered from the sound by Carradale Point.
Much of the sand can be covered at high water. Carradale Point is also cut off at the highest tides: check conditions before following the longer route.
What to expect
The sandy bay offers a different outing from Carradale's harbour: an open stretch of shore with views towards Arran and a river at its western end. A beach wander can be kept short, while the longer Carradale Bay and Point walking circuit is a separate undertaking.
Planning your visit
Decide whether you want a simple beach visit or the full walking route before leaving. Check the tide, avoid the river mouth and use established access. Do not assume village facilities are on the sand. For the longer circuit, use a current route description and allow for rougher ground beyond the beach.
