Hilltop fort remains above Clachan and the entrance to West Loch Tarbert.

What to expect

The hill above Clachan brings coastal views together with the remains of ancient fortifications. Walkhighlands describes a circuit from the village, with rough and sometimes boggy sections; it is a hill walk rather than an accessible viewpoint reached from a car park.

Planning your visit

Use the full route description and a map before setting off. Allow for gradients, wet ground and gates, and wear suitable footwear. Livestock may be present, so keep dogs under control. Weather can obscure the outlook and make the exposed sections less comfortable; choose the day accordingly.
