A CLOSER LOOK

Discover Eilean Garbh Beaches

The northern Gigha beaches around Eilean Garbh, often called the Twin Beaches.

What to expect

Gigha's walking-route information identifies the Eilean Garbh route as a way to reach white-sand beaches in the north of the island. A surfaced aggregate approach is part of the route, followed by the beach environment itself. It is a worthwhile contrast to the busier ferry arrival area.

Planning your visit

Take water and anything else you need: the island's route guide warns that there are no facilities in the north. Follow waymarkers and notices, and be aware of roaming cattle. An easier approach does not establish step-free access onto sand; check current path conditions with the island team if that matters to your visit.
