A CLOSER LOOK

Discover Achamore Gardens

Sheltered woodland gardens known for their rhododendron and camellia collections.

A garden viewpoint looks towards Islay and Jura when visibility allows.

What to expect

Woodland paths, a walled garden and the Horlick plant collection give Achamore several different areas to explore. Rhododendrons and camellias are part of its horticultural story, with flowering changing through the seasons. The gardens are community owned and restoration continues, so a visit also reveals a living project.

Planning your visit

Check current admission and weather notices before setting off: high winds can close the gardens. The operator estimates a roughly 20-minute walk from the ferry. Leave bicycles at the provided rack and explore on foot. Ask about the specific paths and gradients you intend to use if mobility is a concern.
