A CLOSER LOOK

Discover Tarbert Castle Heritage Park

Community-cared-for castle ruins above Tarbert’s harbour, with woodland and an orchard.

What to expect

Above the harbour, the community heritage park combines castle remains with woodland, interpretation, an orchard and a wildlife pond. Conservation grazing is also part of how the grounds are managed. The setting gives visitors a way to look back over Tarbert as well as explore its history.

Planning your visit

The harbour-side approach includes an uphill path and steps, so check alternative access before bringing a wheelchair or pushchair. Follow signs around grazing animals and keep dogs controlled. Allow time for the wider park if you want more than the viewpoint; the ruins themselves are only one part of the site.
